Your choice: Corticosteroids
Corticosteroids usually provide rapid and effective relief of symptoms. Because of the potential for side effects, their use is often limited to patients who do not respond to NSAIDS and/or colchicine or for those with recurrent pericarditis. A more prolonged course of steroid therapy over three to six months with a very slow taper is often required.
