This is a still-frame of a lateral view of a catheter in the thoracic aorta in another patient with a recurrent coarctation of the aorta. In the real-time study that follows, note the discreet narrowing in the descending aorta.
Fluoro of balloon
This is a still-frame of a balloon dilation catheter in the thoracic aorta straddling the recurrent coarctation in this patient. In the real-time study that follows, note the indentation of the balloon as it fills, marking the site of the recurrent obstruction. Further inflation of the balloon results in obliteration of this indentation, indicating successful dilation of the obstruction.
Narrowing largely eliminated
This is a still-frame of a lateral view of a catheter in the thoracic aorta in this patient with the recurrent coarctation of the aorta following balloon dilation. In the real-time study that follows, note that the discreet narrowing in the descending aorta has been largely eliminated.
