An isolated, normally functioning bicuspid aortic valve in an 18-year-old patient causes no symptoms. When associated with significant stenosis or regurgitation, however, symptoms may occur, especially during exertion. Symptoms include anginal chest pain, dyspnea and syncope or presyncope.
