Your choice: Rheumatic heart disease
Patients with rheumatic heart disease may be asymptomatic. Symptoms develop due to significant valve pathology, with mitral and aortic involvement occurring most commonly in this age group. These patients manifest poor exercise tolerance. History may reveal frequent sore throat and family history often identifies relatives who have had rheumatic fever with or without rheumatic heart disease.
