Patients with a dilated cardiomyopathy secondary to myocarditis typically present with signs and symptoms of congestive heart failure including fatigue, shortness of breath and substantial exercise intolerance. There may be a history of a significant febrile illness in the recent past. They do not present with cyanosis at rest and they do not squat.
