Auscultation - apex
Let us now listen to our patient's auscultation at the apex. [Sounds]

Discussion
Once again, we hear a holosystolic murmur with a slight decrescendo configuration. Note that we can more clearly hear S1, allowing more precise observation that the murmur begins simultaneously with S1. Moving away from the site where a loud murmur obscures S1 to where S1 is heard more clearly, is a good technique for making this observation. Note also that diastole is clear, an important point in judging severity of our potential diagnoses.
