Frequency (Pitch)
Frequency, or pitch, of a murmur ranges from low, such as the rumbling diastolic murmur of mitral stenosis, to high, such as the diastolic blowing murmur of aortic regurgitation. In general, the higher the pressure difference and, therefore, the higher the flow velocity creating the murmur, the higher the pitch of the murmur.
