Your choice: Rheumatic heart disease
Patients usually develop rheumatic heart disease with a recognizable heart murmur in later childhood, that is, after age five years. The patient may give a history of frequent sore throats and large joint arthritis. A family history of rheumatic fever often exists. With significant cardiac involvement, the patient typically demonstrates symptoms such as fatigue and exercise intolerance.
